3 Fitness Trends for 2014

Craig TRX It has been a full month (and a few days) since the beginning of the year, since the time you promised yourself you were going to become a fitter, healthier version of yourself.  A month come and gone and maybe you have hit that point in your workout routine where you could use a bit of a change.

But what would you change?

This list of 3 fitness trends of 2014 will help you keep things fresh and restore a renewed excitement in getting yourself fit and active.

  1. Online Workouts/Smart Phone Apps:  Fitness at your fingertips, whether you want to track your workouts, do workouts, or just track your overall fitness there is an app for that.  Phone apps are great for anyone’s lifestyle, economic status, and fitness level.  You can find an app that helps you work on your push-ups, squats, tracks your food intake, or helps you keep track of the distances/pace/time you have run/walk/biked.  Many of the apps add the extra benefit of being able to hook it up with your friends there for adding a bit of competitiveness to your workouts. You can even download an app named Coach Alba, which will send you a text message to help you talk you down from eating that piece of chocolate cake.
  2. Stepping Out of the Box Gym:  Most people join a big box gym hoping to get more bang for their buck, but in 2014 that trend will see some decrease. Those who want to take yoga will spend their money at a Yoga Studio.  When the weather is so nice outside why would you want to be stuck inside?  You can find fitness classes held outside to get your working out in the great outdoors.  While box gyms offer many varied classes and tons of equipment, people will start to seek out ways to keep things interesting and engaging, after all variety is the spice of life!
  3. Fitness Trackers: While not necessarily fitness activity the use of 24-fitness monitoring gear will be on the rise.  With so much wearable tech out there you have no excuse to not know how many steps you walked, your heart rate, or even what you eat on a single day.  While fitness trackers will not do the work for you they will help to keep you motivated and aware of when/where you work out.  Hopefully helping you stay motivated.  Plus with knowing that someone (some thing) is watching your every move you will feel obligated to do that early morning run or after work workout.  Can’t decide which Fitness Tracker is right for you? Check out our comparison of the top three here.

With these top three fitness trends for 2014 not only can you stay on top of the latest fads, you will also keep your workouts from getting too routine and too boring.
